Cherry Pie Bubble Up Casserole
This is the perfect cherry pie bubble up casserole or even cherry biscuit cobbler for weekend brunch celebrations.
It goes great as a side dish to scrambled eggs or my breakfast casserole with hashbrowns. In my opinion, we all need something sweet to eat for brunch alongside the protein.
What to do with leftover cherry pie filling?
If you ever have leftover cherry pie filling, don't waste it! Besides freezing the leftovers, there are plenty of delicious recipes that feature this versatile ingredient.
For a unique breakfast treat, spoon cherry pie filling on top of homemade buttermilk pancakes or waffles? Try warming the pie filling up first!
You could also spoon the pie filling into cinnamon roll cups and make my Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Cherry Pie Filling recipe.
And, for something a little decadent, stir the cherries and juice into melted dark chocolate for a DIY chocolate sauce that's perfect over ice cream.

I used Annie cinnamon rolls . Just took them out of the tube and cut them up. Very yummy!! Thank you for the idea.

Lynn Wilkinson says
Can you substitute the almond extract with vanilla extract.?
Lois says
Yes! Vanilla extract works great as a substitute for almond extract. Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy the recipe.
Amy Hinton says
Would you have to use powder sugar? Could you just omit it? I'd use the sugar free pie filling, I'm trying to stay off sugar. 😬
Thank you.
Lois says
The powdered sugar is used to make the glaze...which you can totally not make. Or you can try using Stevia Powdered Sugar!
Shy says
If I were using a crockpot what are the heating time and how long ?
Lois says
I've never made this dessert in the crock pot, so I wouldn't be able to tell you. Thank you for visiting. I hope you try the recipe.
Nancy L says

Have you ever tried the dark sweet cherries premium pie filling. They are so good you will never go back to the regular pie filling. They are a little more expensive but well worth the expense. Name brand here in Texas is Lucky Leaf pie filling.
Lois says
Yes, I have!!! And you're right, they are delicious!

Looks divine, but do have a ?
From the looks of your photos, looks like you placed the cut-up biscuits in the pan first and then put on the pie filling on top or did you also put cut-up biscuits on the top as well as the bottom?
Bit confusing when you say to put pie filling in the pan first and then the biscuits on top & yet in the photo you have the biscuits in first and then added the pie filling on top.
Thank You
Lois says
I sent you a personal email Colleen. I hope you were able to receive it.
Christine Tottey says
Can I use regular biscuits instead of the grands?
Lois says
I've only used the "grands" biscuits, but I don't see why you couldn't try another version of refrigerated biscuits. You might need to use more biscuits though because of the size. Please come back and let me know how the recipe turns out for you!
Rhonda Lyon says
Loved it. I mixed the cherries and biscuits together before baking for full cherry coating. Definite not enough cheey to biscuit ratio. 2 cans minimum. I heated a second can up on stove and added it for 2nd half
Lois says
Sounds good too! Thanks for sharing how the recipe turned out for you!
Pam white says
Can't wait to dig in only 20 more min. Yum.
Lois says

Karyn Elkington says
I made this but the biscuits did not cook through. They were nice and golden brown on top but the middle and bottoms were doughy and I had to spoon that part out and throw it away. How can I make sure the dough cooks all the way through?
Lois says
Thanks for reaching out to me. I'm not exactly sure why the recipe didn't cook properly for you.
I would think the next time you could cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil so the top of the biscuits don't bake too fast. Then uncover the during the last few minutes to get the tops of the biscuits browned.
Let me know if this works for you.
Thanks for reading and visiting my site!
