Substitutions and Variations
Make them mini: Use cocktail franks instead of full-size hot dogs for bite-sized appetizers like I do with my Pigs in a Blanket Recipe that also uses crescent rolls.
Lighten it up: Swap in turkey or chicken hot dogs for a leaner version.
Boost the flavor: Sprinkle the dough with everything bagel seasoning or garlic powder before cooking. Check out my How to make Pillsbury Crescent Rolls for more tips on seasoning!
Skip the air fryer: Bake in the oven or toaster oven at 375°F for about 12–15 minutes, or until golden and crisp.

Step-by-Step Instructions
This section provides step-by-step photos and instructions to guide you through the recipe. For the complete printable version, scroll down to the recipe card below.

Step 1: Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles. Cut into thin strips. I like to use a sharp pizza cutter to slice the crescent roll dough into even strips.

Step 2: Wrap the hot dogs with the strips of dough until they're covered and resemble a mummy.

Step 3: Air fry at 350°F for 5-7 minutes until the crescent rolls are golden brown.

Step 4: Let the mummy dogs cool slightly then add the edible eyeballs. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard or your favorite dipping sauce. I like to use my favorite Pizza Dipping Sauce.
Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
✔️ DO use a sharp pizza cutter to slice the crescent roll dough into even strips for easy wrapping.
❌ DO NOT overcrowd the air fryer basket. Give each mummy room to puff up and cook evenly.

Storage & Serving Tips
Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving for the best texture.
Freezer: Freezing is not recommended, as the crescent roll dough can become soggy once thawed.
Thaw and Reheat: Warm in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–4 minutes or in the toaster oven until heated through and crisp.
Serving Tips: Add candy eyes or mustard dots before serving for a cute, festive touch. Serve with ketchup, honey mustard or my Dipping Sauce for Chicken.

To keep the dough from unwrapping while cooking, gently press the ends of each dough strip into the hot dog so they stick in place. You can also lightly pinch overlapping areas to help the dough seal. Avoid wrapping too loosely since a snug wrap helps the “mummy” shape hold together as it bakes or air fries.
Mummy Hot Dogs are best enjoyed warm, but they can be served at room temperature for a short time, such as at parties or school events. If packing in a lunchbox, let them cool completely first and store them with an ice pack to keep them safe to eat. Reheat before serving for the best flavor and texture.
