Growing up we always took our time with the Thanksgiving meal. We would sit around the table all afternoon.
We would take a break to watch football or clean up in the kitchen only to meet back around the table later in the day as the sun was setting.
My mother would light all the candles and we would enjoy dessert and coffee by candlelight. It was magical!
No matter which desserts you choose to grace your Thanksgiving table, the key is to make them with love and enjoy the process of creating something special for your loved ones.

How far ahead can you make pies for Thanksgiving?
You can prepare the pie crust a few weeks before putting the pies together and store them in the freezer! My mother did this all the time.
Fruit pies, such as apple, cherry, or berry, can be baked 1-2 days before Thanksgiving. After baking, allow them to cool completely, then cover and store in the refrigerator.
Custard-based pies like pumpkin pie, pecan pie or coconut cream pie can also be made 1-2 days in advance. Bake them according to the recipe instructions, allow them to cool completely, and then keep them refrigerated until serving time.
