Step 3: Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes, remove and add the shredded cheese, then bake for 5 more minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Insider Tips from My Kitchen to Yours
✔️ DO let the baked taquitos rest for a few minutes before serving so the layers can set and hold together nicely.
❌ DO NOT overbake the taquitos. Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, they’re perfectly crisp and ready to serve.

No, you don’t need to thaw the taquitos before baking. They should go straight from the freezer into the baking dish. Baking them while still frozen helps them stay crisp on the outside while the layers heat through evenly.
To keep the taquitos from getting soggy, make sure they’re arranged in a single layer so the sauce doesn’t completely cover them. Bake uncovered so the steam can escape, which helps them stay crisp on the outside while the cheese melts and bubbles underneath.
A 9x13-inch baking dish works best for this recipe. It’s large enough to hold the taquitos in a single layer so they bake evenly and stay crisp around the edges.
Storage & Serving Tips
Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving to maintain the crispy texture.
Freezer: Freeze portions in a freezer-safe container or wrap tightly in foil for up to 2 months.
Thaw and Reheat: Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then reheat in the oven at 350°F until hot and bubbly.
Serving Tips: Top with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole just before serving for extra flavor and freshness.
