It’s a long one but so good, especially considering so many people are worried about their jobs, worried about paying the bills, worried, worried, worried. Remember that God will honor your faithfulness to HIM!
Do Not Worry
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
He will have no fear of bad news;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is secure, he will have no fear;
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
I haven’t shared with everyone about my daughter Olivia and her back. Yes, it seems she has inherited some of my problems. But we’re not completely sure why.
She started to complain about back pain in December. I had already scheduled an appointment with my spine doctor for both Olivia and Michael for them to be screened for scoliosis, since I have it and it has caused tremendous other problems with my back and my sister actually had corrective surgery on her spine when she was 15. Michael’s spine is completely normal. Olivia’s has a slight curve, but nothing to be concerned about. However…
My doctor ordered an MRI because of the pain she was experiencing and the results show that she has two herniated discs…which is strange considering she was not injured in an accident or doesn’t play sports, unless you consider lying on the couch a sport!
Anyway he was quite concerned that she has these disc herniations so young and without any trauma involved, so we have an appointment on April 7th to meet with a rheumatologist. She’s already completed a round of physical therapy and her pain is not as bad as it has been.
When I saw these verses on Angela’s blog, it just spoke to me! I will have no fear of bad news! My heart is trusting in the Lord to work all things for His Glory. Right now we’re not sure what our “foes” are. But we will one day look triumphantly at them and know without a doubt that our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask of Him.
So if you could mark April 7th down on your calendars and remember my sweet Olivia in your prayers, that would be wonderful.
First I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and thank you for all the wonderful comments you left on my blog regarding the memories of my father. I am touched by your wonderful words of love and support!
We had a wonderful time here at the Christensen household. We made a fire, ate pizza and watched a movie. Very peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable. I tried, really tried to stay up, but was out by 10:00, but not before I fell to my knees beside my bed and poured out my heart to the Lord to really guide me this year. I am truly humbled by the amount of blessings He has given to me…I want to feel His presence more deeply in my life…I want my life to be a living testimony for Him.
So here is 2009’s first Scripture Saturday…enjoy!
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
I promise to be back with pictures of our Christmas and a fabulous new recipe for stuffed tomatoes!!!
My Olivia’s favorite verse…
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Enjoy your weekend!
The Lord they God in the midst of thee is mighty,
He will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy,
He will rest in his love, He will joy over thee with singing.
There are so many times when I’m reading the Bible that I just stop and fall in love with a certain verse or two. So I decided that Saturdays will now be called “Scripture Saturday” here at Walking on Sunshine. So today is the first in the series. I hope you’ll check back every Saturday! If you’d like, leave a comment with a favorite verse that you’ve read during the week…Enjoy!
I read this scripture the other day and just love it…
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; Great is Your Faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
