Recipe Notes
The key to making delicious peach dumplings is using ripe, juicy peaches. Look for peaches that are fragrant and slightly soft to the touch.
If you don't have access to fresh peaches, it's okay to use canned peaches. I wouldn't make this recipe with frozen peaches though.
Allow the peach dumplings to cool slightly before serving. They are best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

- 1 can 12 oz of Mountain Dew Soda
Can I substitute Mountain Dew Soda?
The answer to this question is YES! Just make sure you use a full sugar beverage. This is not the time to be using a diet soda. Here are a few options if you don't care for the taste of Mountain Dew Soda:
- 7-Up Soda - I have made this recipe a few times using 7-Up Soda.
- Lemon-Lime Soda - such as Sprite.
- Ginger Ale - works great too!
- Orange Juice - I have not tried orange juice, but I hear other people have and enjoyed the recipe.
Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1: Open the package of crescent rolls. Unroll them and divide into pieces.
Step 2: First, slice your peaches thinly. Place one or two slices on the wider end of each crescent roll, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar (about ¼ teaspoon per roll).
Step 3: Gently roll up each crescent roll, starting at the wide end where you placed the peaches. Arrange them in a 9 x 13 baking dish that's been lightly greased with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 4: Sprinkle a little more of the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top of the rolls. You don't have to, but I enjoy the extra sweetness!
Step 5: Melt the butter and pour over the crescent rolls. Then pour the Mountain Dew soda all around.
Baking Instructions
Step 6: Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown.

Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls
Ingredients
Method

Truvia now has a sweetener that is 100% sugar-free that measures and tastes just like sugar. It can be used in any recipe - baking, canning (I used it in some peach jam last week), anything that calls for sugar, but you don't want to use sugar!

You can use ANY lemon-lime carbonated (non-diet)soft drink, it doesn't have to be Mountain Dew. The lemon lime goes with the fruit, and the carbonation helps to cook the bottom of the dumplings so they aren't doughy and don't burn as the liquid evaporates.

I have the same question. What could you use as a substitute for Mountain Dew? They look lovely and easy to make, but I hate to use Mountain Dew for anything. Could I use lemonade instead?
